How to find files you downloaded from WhatsApp, Gmail or Slack
You know a colleague sent it on Slack, or it was a Gmail attachment. Tidzy lets you search by exactly that.
Open Downloaded From in Tidzy to browse every download grouped by where it came from: Gmail, WhatsApp, Slack, AirDrop, Chrome, any website. Or just search “from whatsapp” or “pdfs from gmail last week”.
Browse by source
- Open Downloaded From
Every source with at least one file is listed with a count. Click one to see its files, newest first.
- Or ask for it
Add “from <app or site>” to any search: “invoices from gmail”, “photos from whatsapp this month”, “zips from github”.
How Tidzy knows
When you download a file, macOS quietly records the web address it came from and the app that saved it. Tidzy reads that, tells a Gmail attachment from a Slack file or a WhatsApp photo, and falls back to the website’s name for everything else.
Sources it recognises
Gmail, Google Drive, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Messages, AirDrop, GitHub, ChatGPT, Figma, Canva, X, plus any website by its domain.
Doing it without Tidzy
Select a file in Finder and press ⌘I: under More Info, “Where from” shows the address it was downloaded from. That works one file at a time, and Finder can’t search or group by it.
Try it on your own files
